RYAN'S TD PASSES ARE WORTH THE WAIT
FOR the second time in less than a month, Boston College won a game on the road in one of the toughest environments in the ACC, winning 20-17 at Clemson. Quarterback Matt Ryan got back into the Heisman race when he tossed a 43-yard touchdown pass to Rich Gunnell. Gunnell, who's from South Jersey, said it took "forever" for the ball to come down. When the Eagles rallied to win 14-10 at Virginia Tech, Matt Ryan hit Andre Callender for the game-winning touchdown pass. Callender, who's from North Jersey, said it took an eternity for the ball to come down. Callender said he lost the ball in the lights and then behind a Virginia Tech defender, before making the grab. Gunnell, who was wide open, also lost the use of one of his senses. "Everything went silent," Gunnell said. "I was so focused on catching the ball I didn't hear anything. Then I looked at the small section of BC fans and saw them going crazy." THE YOUNG AND THE THANKFUL: Missouri freshman do-everything receiver Jeremy Maclin set all kinds of records Saturday in the win over Kansas State. His 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the first by a Missouri player since 1982. His 360 yards and three touchdowns was a Missouri single-game record for a frosh. And his 2,309 all-purpose yards broke the freshman mark held by former Rutgers star Terrell Willis. TERRIFIC Tim Tebow: The Tim Tebow Heisman Trophy debate is in full rage. Florida's QB coach, Dan Mullen, who spent four years in the Big Apple as the wide receivers coach at Wagner and Columbia, asks voters to consider this: Less than an hour before Florida's last game, Tim Tebow granted a child from the Make-A-Wish Foundation one of his wishes. The boy was in the Florida locker room helping Tim Tebow dress. Tim Tebow then went out and went 25-of-34 for 338 yards with three touchdown passes, one interception and one TD rushing. Mullen, who asked we send down a couple of slices of Famiglia pizza, said Tim Tebow is a better person off the field than he's a player. FSU coach Bobby Bowden on Sunday proclaimed Tim Tebow the quarterback of the future. "To me, the quarterback of the past, present and future will always be a guy who wins," said Mullen. "Tim is a winner." See more at www.nypost.com
