Boston College to face Michigan St. in Champs Sports Bowl
BOSTON-Boston College will be making a school-record ninth consecutive bowl appearance.
The Eagles (10-3) will face Michigan State (7-5) in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, Fla. on Dec. 28th.
BC lost the Atlantic Coast title game to Virginia Tech 30-16 in Jacksonville, Fla. on Saturday. The Hokies will represent the ACC in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 3.
BC has won seven consecutive bowl games -- the longest active streak in college football. The Eagles, however, were passed two spots in the ACC's bowl affiliations likely due to their poor representation from the small number of fans that travel.
"We are extremely pleased to accept this invitation to play in the Champs Sports Bowl," BC Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo said in a statement. "Not only will we have the opportunity play a quality opponent in Michigan State, but our fans will have the opportunity to travel to one of the premier vacation destinations in the world."
The Eagles played in the then Carquest Bowl -- the predecessor to the Champs Sports -- on New Year's Day of 1994, beating Virginia, 31-13.
The Champs Sports is ACC's fourth most prestigious bowl after the Orange Bowl, the Chick-fil-A Bowl and the Gator Bowl.
