Paladins face ACC champs in first 12-game regular-season schedule
Furman's first 12-game regular season football schedule includes an early trip to Atlantic Coast Conference champion Virginia Tech.
The Paladins open the season against Mars Hill on Aug. 30. The following week, they travel to play the Hokies, who beat Boston College to win the ACC championship game in December. Furman has not played Virginia Tech, a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision, since 1947.
Furman stays on the road for its first meeting with Colgate (Sept. 13) before returning home to play Football Championship Subdivision runner-up Delaware (Sept. 20).
The Paladins start the Southern Conference season at home against Chattanooga (Sept. 27). They also have home games with Western Carolina (Oct. 11), Citadel (Oct. 18) and Georgia Southern (Nov. 15).
Furman travels to play SoCon games with Elon (Oct. 4), defending FCS champion Appalachian State (Oct. 25), Samford (Nov. 1) and Wofford (Nov. 22).
Samford is the Southern Conference's newest member.
The Paladins went 6-5 last season and were 4-3 in league play.
